Most of you live, literally, like kings compared to these people. Instead of 2 computers, or 5 tablets, or 3 cars, or eating out frequently, buying $6 beers at the bar with your friends, or whatever else you or your family splurges on, why don't YOU do something and give something to these people. Why aren't you employing these workers? You're worse than what Coca Cola is doing.

"In March, Coke installed five special phone booths in Dubai labor camps that accepted Coca-Cola bottle caps instead of coins. In exchange for the cap from a bottle of Coke—which costs about fifty-four cents—migrant workers could make a three-minute international call. The ad shows laborers in hard hats and reflective vests lining up to use the machine—and grinning, for the first time in the video, as they wait. “I’ve saved one more cap, so I can talk to my wife again tomorrow,” one man tells the camera. More than forty thousand people made calls using the machines. Then, in April, after the booths had been up for about a month, the company dismantled them."

a new guy started at my work today and he told me he worked for a private security company during the Iraq occupation. anyway he told me that his university aged nephews call him a war criminal to his face and say he should be hanged and I said they're probably right and he just chuckled. he went to a private school and has the same sociopathic dead voice and affect all private/boarding school boys develop. pretty bourgeois imo

Between Parker, McSweeney's, Wes Anderson, and the album's lineup itself, Song Reader crystallizes the maturation of the white indie set to the new ruling class—an arc traced by Beck's own career. This is a world of people who are mellow, organized, emotive within reason, a little retro and graced with just a zest of modernity.
