An interesting part of NoVa life is that the general atmosphere of suburban affluence can camouflage dramatic income gaps between residents who belong to different waves of migration into the area.

I know, for example, a pair of elderly twins whose Polish parents bought a home back in the 50s,tucked away in the still shady part of the neighborhood. The more gregarious one works as a telemarketer, the other who suffers from a nearly incomprehensible stutter, is a bag man at the supermarket (different one from me...). But they still live in the small row home they were born in, on land that they never would have been able to afford today, right down the street from "colonial" style McMansions inhabited by newer, 'Yuccie,' arrivals.

Yeah if anyone's interested in the reality behind the legend of Baby Huey P Newton this month is PhD application month. Hopefully I get a lucky break and end up in some shit college town studying under some withered old trot for the rest of my life. I'll be sure to let LF know how that works out, one day the journal of anime maoist third-worldist studies will exist
