my opinions on basically anything to do with women are bullshit & based only on me reinterpreting the opinions of women, or in the worst case assuming i know something about the female condition, so if i wanted to seriously participate in this thread i don't think there's any way i could without being either patronizing or wrong, other than pointing out that this particular writer sounds pretty much full of shit. i'm not sure what else one could expect from a thread like this

i could make a bunch of sexist ironic posts tho if anyone needs more of those. i got a whole wheelbarrow full of em

I was curious because the fact you are so quick to shoot Grant down seems to be proving her point given she was an actual sex worker.

Besides a lot of these feminist "anti-trafficking" initiatives has directly resulted in women being forced to come into contact with Lykourgos which is pretty inhumane.

no idea. when I was doing the sheriff call they'd just bring in a truckload of prostitutes, and I'd have to figure out what to do with them. there were always these two helpful social workers in the courtroom who would indicate which programmes would be suitable for each prostitute, and I'd just say hmm yes very well then, and invariably the defense attorneys and their clients would agree.

there were pamphlets and things they had about the programmes, and from what I gathered they ranged from deferred prosecution where the prostitute would attend a couple of classes, to in custody counseling.

Her point that anti-prostitution feminists ignore the actual experiences and opinions of sex workers.

which point is that? this point?

Clients of sex workers, or customers, or johns—I hate calling them johns, not because I think it is a bad word but because the anti-sex work people have so fixated on it that I don’t like using it anymore—but, customers: they’re so stigmatized right now. Not as stigmatized as sex workers, but I just can’t imagine.

this point?

"Yes. It’s so hard for me to say that’s dehumanizing because it sounds like I’m saying that to see someone in a sexualized way, particularly in a commercialized way, is dehumanizing."

this point?

That all women should never give sex for free out of love and affection or even fun and those that did were as stupid as any business owner who gives away product.

this point?

We called the SXSW conference in Austin "spring break for geeks." Melissa lived it: The art of the SXSW orgy

oh hahahahha i guess you mean this point

It makes me so angry when people say, “We never hear from people who are happy doing sex work.” Well, that’s because they’re working. The activism privileges people who hated doing sex work, are no longer doing it, and have a job at a social service organization, for example, that trains them on how to speak to the media. We are hearing from those people quite a bit.

The experiences of people who lack class consciousness is irrevocably tainted by their failure to understand of power structures.

A woman who "chooses" to shave her genital area is choosing to do so because of social expectation to do so, mostly coming from male consumers of porn. They are choosing to self modify to meet the expectations of a dominant culture. This makes their choice forced. For the same reason, anyone who picks up women at a bar is a rapist.

This applies to class as well. No one chooses to be a garbage man, but they may self rationalize that "choice" in the same way that a prostitute or stripper might.

Basically the lady writing this article is reactionary scum, a purveyor of rape culture and by the transitive property of rape, a rapist herself.
