Because I thought the common misconception about the relationship God has with the universe deserved clarification. What do you think, deadken, of the objections by other posters that the established creation doctrine of the Church is "absurd" and "new age"?

For something so obvious, many people do not seem to understand it. In fact, it stirred up controversy and denials by the so-called theologians of this forum. So, I don't understand your claim that it was a post so obvious it was not worth making.

p sure the established creation doctrine of the church doesnt refer to heat death + spacetime, & that it was the general arsiness of your post that was being objected to, not the assertion that god is not identical with the universe, which even hippie advaita types recognise, Fucker

What was "arsy" about my post? And yes, the Church does acknowledge scientific phenomena. It officially acknowledges the Big Bang theory. Hell, the guy who first proposed the theory was a Catholic priest. It has always been their position that the creation account in Genesis is allegorical.

If they do that’s lame as hell

The “big bang” is the most frayed and weak link in the whole notion of science. I keep asking scientists what was there before the big bang and they can’t give me a proper answer, it sounds like stupid drivel.

i keep asking all these preachers what was there before God, none of them can give me a straight answer. and ive asked literally thousands

Whether you like it or not, the Big Bang is well supported by evidence. As for what came before it, the Church regards it as the creation event. So it's not problematic for the Church like it is for atheistic scientists.

Yeah that's what i'm saying, the church has it's story straight about these but science-types sputter and moan and fog up their glasses when pressed on what was around before the big bang

science in fact considers the 'big bang' to be a creation event and views the question of 'what was before the big bang' to be illogical. how can you pose a chronological question discussing temporal primacy referring to the event which is the starting point of time?

there is no 'before', it's turtles all the way down.
