by the way SA/LF politics and the splintering of LF into various groups o0f crazy people is the most important topic we can talk about since it mirrors the real life struggles, splits, and degeneration of left groups irl. except we all got to learn these lessons without wasting years of our lives on misguided activism, ruining relationships over politics, and getting arrested.

and that doesn't mean splits and left wing disunity is foolish either, the most world changing left wing revolutions are the result of ideological splits and party purges. we need to talk more about D&D and all of the failed people who post in it.

I like to think Duck Moster is when an activist becomes completely burned out, especially someone who is involved in anti-fascism which is utterly pointless. guess it's tough to be a street anarchist living in a squat when you're hitting 40.

thats me being generous, its far more likely he's just a dumb liberal who seemed radical on SA in 2004 but now just looks foolish. there are very few anarchists I have respect for and he is not one of them.

yeah i have to say i was deeply shocked when the website run by a midwest and conservative small business owner decided to purge the forum filled with leftist radical politics

D&d is about to face a posting purge due to their toxxing for presidential candidates.. it may have a different atmosphere november 7th
#51
honestly lowtax was right to purge lf, it was becoming dangerously overwhelmed with tumblr/wddp elements

I remember Chomsky said something to effect of "activism is really hard and takes a lot of sacrifice." Pretty interesting coming from a guy who's made his whole career in activism, but I guess it's sorta true. Marx was basically a bum, and most famous revolutionaries have at one time lived in exile/lived in jail/lived in the woods on squirrels. Stalin could have easily gone the way of David Gilbert for the Tiflis Bank robbery and Hoxha could have easily gone the way of Gramsci if the Italians had been more competent in Albania.

Hardcore Sax used to make the same thread every day in LF about the mentality of revolutionaries which was not very interesting, but I do think it's worth thinking about what happens when a revolutionary gets burned out or loses his way and becomes consumed with hopelessness and guilt and how we can prevent this.

Doesn't mean I'm advocating for taking the easy way out, Epicurus was the first one to say that correct philosophy is a source of joy and cheerfulness in the face of great pain and socialism has always been part of that tradition. Not to speak of the emptiness and mental illness that results from life under late capitalism, which is either filled by pop culture, therapy, or self-delusion about ethical capitalism.

the kewlest thing about reading SA's sport forum is the way the mods make shallow little unsupported comments and have really well defined opinions and they repeat the same shit over and over, and then the little army of nameless posters surround them and back them up and slightly reword their posts to repeat them like lil parrots then anyone who challenges a mod gets instantly ganged up on by the lil goon army and they swirl around the mods all day complimenting them and strokin their lil egos.. wonder if its funnier for a sports or politics forum cus i bet thats what happen in d&d too, it's like nerd hierarchies always set in stone

the second half of my kobe book is about this specifically. i guess i don't really advance anything too interesting in the book, except to maybe think a little bit about the post-hopelessness nihilism and its dangers, or whatever

the sports forum on SA is pretty awesome: the mods repeatedly proclaim from the rooftops these idiotic comments that the rest of the posters, like the good little lemmings they are, repeat back like sycophantic creeps. and then the moment anyone with anything original to say dares to step into the arena with a modicum of disagreement they are immediately mobbed by the mod's little crew of yes-men. it basically turns into a continual circle-jerk without end merely for the sake of ego-stroking. likely the same sort of thing occurs in d&d as a political forum, geeks are the fucking same wherever you look.

are u talkin about kevin love, impper..
#58
imma revolutionary, i revolution once every day,
which means im always back where i started
#59
is it not curious that the etymology of the word revolution actually implies reverting back to the original state at the end of the process?

and it makes me wonder, ooooh oh oh.

so glad you found a way to view your complete passiveness as actually beneficial and desirable. so glad you didn't waste time on engaging in 'misguided activism' but instead took full advantage of it by posting in zany politics comedy forums. so glad you unveiled the face of alleged internet leftist instead of digging water ways for third worlders like some of those other laughable goons did.

political journalism and sports journalism are almost identical thematically

i just remembered going to see fahrenheit 9/11 (which in retrospect was a bad movie) and there was the part where the iraqi lady was screaming abut her dead family and the subtitles were "GOD WHY HAVE YOU TAKEN MY FAMILY FROM ME? OH GOD WHY, WHY??" and some crackerass dude in the audience was like "she's not saying God she's saying Allah"

Tragedy strikes war heroes, so does train
Seattle Post Intelligencer - 14 minutes ago

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) — A joyful celebration turned to chaos as a train, its horn blaring, barreled into a float laden with military veterans and their spouses on their way to a banquet to honor the returning war heroes.

The float took the full force of the train at a railroad crossing in Midland. Some managed to jump clear as the train bore down on the float decorated with American flags. Horrified spectators could only watch as the carnage unfolded.

damn. damn. what a chaotic, nightmarish scene lol.
