you're such a silly billy goldsmith. the opus dei and the bolder beef group got really p'd off about that milquetoast "excessive wealth" encyclical a while back and have forced him out with strategically planted kiddy porn

opus dei is rather transparently a crypto-protestant plot

actually opus dei was jp2/CIA's joint solution to counter the communist infiltration of the jesuits

i guess lifelong commitment to be the literal voice of god upon earth doesn't carry the same weight that it used to if "i dont feel good" is enough to pack it in

im catolic

#53
i went to catholic school & check it off on the census & occasionally peek inside a church, if that counts
#54
that's basically every catholic
#55
yeah. though i have noticed being a catholic in america seems like a bigger deal, in canada it's a big enough % of the population that it doesn't make much of a difference in your life experience, but i've run into americans that are like "i went to Catholic School" and it sounds like this totally other world from the regular public schools

huh canada is the most catholic (%-wise) anglophone country in the world (43%). i didn't know that. makes sense i guess

well, catholic vs protestant mattered more even a few decades ago in ontario. the tories governed ontario without a break for the entire postwar period up until 1985 and they were traditionally very anti-catholic (and anti-semitic). so the ontario liberals won a lot of catholic support. my father's family all votes liberal because of this. two things sort of changed that picture though. the first was that the traditional school system became less and less protestant over time, until they officially got rid of the lord's prayer (i think i was the last year they said it). the other was that bill davis agreed to fully fund catholic schools. the latter fact causing permanent consternation to atheist teens.

i'm also a catholic getfiscal. my confirmation name is wolfgang. patron saint of strokes. pretty sure every good marxist is a good catholic
#61
i am not a catholic according to the rules of catholicism, because when all my grade one(?) class went for Confirmation, i was like "um hi uh, i don't think i really want to do that because i definitely don't think i'm ready to officially declare that i believe in god, is that ok?" and they were totally okay with it, so i didn't do it & will forever be a heretic

if an adult makes the decision to be an agnostic that's one thing but indoctrinating their 6 year old children so thoroughly is just wrong
