TRIGGER WARNING: DISTURBING SUBJECT MATTER

Just about a year ago, the Something Awful forums declares war on reddit for argely legal, yet alarming content centered around the abuse of women and children. Today, one of the largest and most active threads(not to mention the community around it) is centered around the abuse of women and children.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3503700&pagenumber=704&perpage=40#post416045337

In a strange turn of events, a sizeable and very active community of "self-published erotica authors" have set up shop on SA, seemingly with moderator sanction and approval. They encourage each other(and others) to write, critique each others' work, an share tips on how to get around online publishers' unwillingness to publish rape(just call it "dubious consent," or the even more innocuous-sounding "dubcon") and incest(sanitized to "pseudo-incest," or "PI," in which the characters are established to be step-relations before the pretense is entirely done away with, as the stories are filled with words like mommy, daddy, etc.). Forced pregnancy, even bestiality are common fodder for these stories.

And where reddit had no direct financial stake in its questionable content, people.pay to join and post on SA. It remains.unclear whether there is any further financial interest onpart of SA, but they are at the very least profiting indirectly from the production and distribution of this material.

I understand where you coming from. Active fantasizing, and social support for that fantasizing, isn't an "outlet" for kinks/fetishes, but rather reinforces the power they have over our sexual behavior and desire. A man who has elaborate and explicit fantasies about raping women, and whenever he masturbates thinks about rape, is naturally going to think about rape when he's in a situation that resembles one of his fantasies. When helping someone get over their fixation on an unwanted/unhealthy sexual fixation, one of the best tools is... pornography. You can try this on yourself if you're having trouble getting off to anything other than Pikachus or Duskulls or Cubones or Trubbishes or Ekanses or Mewtwos or whatever. Only allow yourself to enjoy your kink for a short time before switching to another, more "desirable" or "normal" kind of fantasy. Since your mind might naturally drift back to Cubone, pornography is a good distraction. Written pornography or "erotica" is a healthy alternative to the traditional pancake makeup and uncomfortable footwear based video pornography. Anyway, what the fuck was I talking about? Stay in school.

When Tom's straight best friend, Joe, calls up bereft over a recent break-up, Tom does what any good friend would: invites Joe over to drink away the sorrows. Joe gets a little too drunk and affectionate, and ends up passing out in Tom's bed - and begging Tom to sleep in bed with him. Can Tom resist temptation, or will he take the chance to have sex with Joe while his straight friend sleeps?

obviously the former

isnt text porn consumed predominately by women? also, isnt the written word not actually porn? also, do people really still pay money to post on forums?
#10
lol if u cant climax through fiction alone
#11
remember when they used to make their own goon porn and share it but it was so gross they made a rule about no more goon porn. i guess there is a final end point to this depravity.

anytime i hear about peopole using the written word as a masturbation aid i always think, "who are these people, me, age 10, moving into my sisters recently vacated bedroom and finding her copies of My Secret Garden and Forbidden Flowers by Nancy Friday and permanently fucking up my sexual development??"
#13
i thought the rule was just because of the ensuing Epic Drama goonporn caused

dear OP, unfortunately the "feminists" on this site don't think criminalizing sex work is a good idea, so they probably support rape novel writers because that's just working hard for money and we shant slut-shame. couldn't make it up. political correctness gone mad.

Rape writers are as likely to provoke rape as the marxoteens posting in this forum are to provoke revolution

I say this as a white male so my opinion should hold as much weight as the chair I am sitting in.

1. Most people here are in their mid to late 20s now
2. The thing you said about rape writing being unlikely to "provoke rape," well obviously no one thing PROVOKES rape, there are numerous factors, including, that some men train themselves to find rape opportunities arousing, because EVERY rape based sex fantasy involves that kind of opportunity. Some men put themselves in an position of opportunity for the thrill, not intending to follow through with the rape, but again, at best they are weakening their own resistance to the next event. This is why sexual predators "escalate," because any arousal or release even remotely associated with rape GREATLY rewards rapist behavior no matter the ideology or intellectual remove of the rapist in training.

Why is the reification of rape so much easier than the reification of communism? Surely its because rape is mirrored in capitalist production.

Treating fantasies as a thing outside of the context of reading-fantasy-masturbation.
That a fantasy is an object which can be taken from reading-fantasy-masturbation and plugged into fantasy-opportunity-rape.

#35
A fantasy is a thing. One has a fantasy, one fantasizes. A rape fantasy is a real plan of action, a real mental rehearsal. Fantasy, in some ways, is realer than reality to the rapist, who dismisses the suffering he causes by fantasizing that the woman secretly enjoys, wants, or needs to be raped.
#36
You can keep repeating the same word in different contexts but it won't make fantasy into reality.

The idea that language shapes reality is Pornography for English majors
Language comes from material reality, not the other way around.
