the zappa that most people know and dislike is the "sheik yerbouti" zappa who was into parody and gross-out jokes, indeed a juvenile zappa. if you wanna go for the good zappa..

this is his famous accessible solo-driven jazz rock album

if you just want bananas guitar picking you can try this album but its not really his best stuff overall, it's not really an album i'm familiar with

zappa regularly ventures into hair metal and hairy metallic blues so if you like big idiot riffs there is a ton of stuff like "my guitar wants to kill your mama."

zappa's most famous album, arguably best, is apostrophe, i listened to this album probably 200 times when i was 13

he doesn't ju8st go for "what's the ugliest part of your body?" jokes, there is also a uniquely intelligent humor, in songs like the adventures of gregory peccary which is one of his attempts at a "musical cartoon"... try it out.

or also, like, stick with the juvenile shit becuase sometimes its just good

my all time favorite zappa album is Make a Jazz Noise Here, this is not on youtube but here is one track. This a live album (no overdubs!) from two concerts in the late eighties, and demonstrates both virtuous instrument playing (especially the horn solos on Black Napkins) and Zappa's endless power of arrangement and rearrangement of his own work and fearless incorporation of jokes and serious shit. A lot of this album, when you go listen to it, might just be fucking annoying to you, because you are a noob.

the nice thing about being a zappa fan is that there is always stuff you haven't listened to, besides putting out dozens of albums of his own work and collaborating with others, he recorded the vast majority of his live performances. i was unfamiliar with his posthumous album until tonight and now i have it on and it's, rpetty good!

so fuck you, stupid!

same. like 50% of my friends who smoke/smoked weed were all given this album by our dads at this age.

its still a win for me if it gets ignored because it supports my vision of a hive of hateful ghouls out to destroy me.

my first good teacher was in zappa's large touring band in the late eighties and said that the main reason he got the gig was that he was the only guy in LA on his instrument who was willing to run, screaming, around a directional mic in the studio

"Lookaway" (featuring DJ Lethal, Jonathan Davis, and Mike Patton)

Leor Dimant (Latvian: Leors Dimants; born December 18, 1972 in Riga, Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR) better known as DJ Lethal, is a turntablist and producer and is best known for his position of DJ in the rap metal band Limp Bizkit for fifteen years, which he departed in 2012. He is also well known for previously playing in the Irish-American hip-hop group, House of Pain. Lethal played, briefly, in La Coka Nostra (at times with other former House of Pain members).
