FLCL is good but if someone says its their favorite anime you can tell they're a total noob. Even more noob than if they say it's DBZ or Sailor Moon b/c thats actually cool.

My favorite anime is Princess Mononoke starring Billy Bob Thorton.

#84
Saying FLCL is your favorite anime is like saying Catcher In The Rye is your favorite book. If you said that shit to me IRL I would loudly scoff at you and then pull out a fan to cover the bottom half of my face at lightning speed and shuffle away on the tips of my toes.

some fucker keeps telling me i should watch the new jojo's bizarre adventure series and also attack on titan

should i do any of these things? tia

no

I've heard good things about Jojo, attack on titan is a cool cartoon if you like cartoony looking cartoons that get all dark and fucked up and you're like "is this for children" but not in a weird sort of way. Or I don't know I haven't really been keeping up with the episodes.

If you're wary of all the usual tropes in anime I would suggest watching panty and stocking with garterbelt it's very refreshing.

the last time someone came up to me and told me that an anime was really good it was either angel beats or that one about the moe nyarlathotep. before that it was tenjou tenge. i dont think ive ever been recommended anything that wasnt garbage
#103
all anime and all creative works in general are garbage

you are probably right. i couldnt fix a large roof tile/leaking and electricity problem on the roof of the house i live in because i dont have the technical skills because of my mistaken life so i had to pay two or three guys to come and do it for me. they were Magnificent men, muscular devout protestants paired with a born again evangelical electrician who fixed the whole thing really quickly, tossing roof tiles up and catching them, wedging them in place and replacing the leaden water seals and i felt great shame and wished i could unlearn all of the confusing stuff i learned and just solve problems with my body. but that thought itself feels evil. at least i cooked them eggs i guess
#107
you can still solve problems with your body+mind and you dont have to unlearn anything. you can learn a trade. convert your fellow tradesmen to glorious communism

im considering becoming a farmer but im still reading up about how to do it. however i am in the process of converting a local farmer to stalinism by systematically poisoning his mind with ideas that will feel to him like they are his own

i don't think that ever happens and reason doesn't really work, unless you have tied your ego to the concept of your own reasonableness in the way a professor or a goony sceptic might, but normal people fortunately don't do that. the only times i can think of when people have changed their mind for the better it was because of some unconscious process or benign manipulation, to make someone realize that they don't want what they thought they wanted before.

but no, anime won't save us when the Moët Henessey • Louis Vuitton • illy • Takashimaya • Polo Ralph Lauren • Volvo • xHamster - Just Porn No Bullshit • U2 • Celestial Seasonings • Weyland-Yutani corporation is formed and starts charging our souls rent for use of our own bodies

why not try a trade? its probably a more practical way of earning a living and you can be pretty comfortable as a plumber or an electrician and iirc trades like electricians have unions of some kind altho idk how strong they are

where i live trades are pretty strictly regulated, except for the lowest paid ones like bricklayer, which means that i'd need to get a diploma from a technical college which would take several years and would raise my student loan. becoming a plumber for instance takes about 5 years and i dont think i can do that, nor sell the concept to the people who finance and control my existence

and that's with a technical background in high school, which i don't have.

the best thing i can probably do is to just finish my degree and become a teacher, where theres a perpetual employee shortage because high schools are just awful places

oic. tbh all i know about it is when one of my friends with half of a communications degree wanted to become an electrician because he heard they could make six figures but lost interest before finishing the apprenticeship

i know a guy who fucked up his high school completely and spazzed out on drugs for a few years, but then got into a technical college and became a welder, but now he's chronically depressed because he feels like he didn't "make something of his life" and meanwhile im just secretly jealous of the guy for at least doing something concrete and joining beautiful metal objects together all day

the worst is when people tell you that "you should write a book". thats the worst insult.

#117
another problem, i imagine, for a lot of posters here is that they do random drug testing, which may be the reason my friend lost interest
