In Dog Day Afternoon, Sidney Lumet's classic 1975 film about the revolutionary potential of transgenderism, why does Al Pacino try to burn the bank register?

I have a question. Have people ever been forced out of cities by real estate prices, before the real estate speculation with free credit era? Is that k ind of speculation fueled gentrification, redevelopment, etc new? Or is it just the same thing as slum clearances and enclosure for our terrible new age?

According to wikipedia, prostitution is "culturally and historically ubiquitous". Is there evidence for claims to the contrary?

this might not be quite what you're looking for but "A song of Capital of Modernity" by David RR Harvey goes into this process in Paris in the mid 19th century

I don’t know, but surely if we accept that human social relations ARE largely based on materialism, then all women are indeed, actually whores.

Question: Good movie, especially doco recommendations?

fwiw i heartily recommend the autobiography of nicolae ceausescu for anyone who likes watching tractor factories being built, nixon speaking in a communist country, or the slow ossification of a socialist state

question: are there any movies worse than those shitty pixar ones?

I refuse to watch Hollywood movies on principal and I won’t budge until Roman Polanski is allowed back into the US to drug and sodomize more kids.
#23
I refuse to watch Hollywood movies on interest only. I'd never risk my principal like that.

are questions that don't deserve their own thread naturally inferior and should simply be taken out, put against a wall, and eradicated?

why don't these questions deserve their own thread? what systems are fostering this inequality?
