i dont actually ride a fuji feather but i thot it'd be funny to say i do. i almost bought one also

how much do they go for anyway

it was actually a really great deal, the guy had put in like $800 of upgrades (yea i kno thats worthless basically but still) and wanted 350 or 400 or something. i don't remember the price exactly, just that it was a steal, and i underbid him by 150 or so just to be a dick when he was selling it cheap in the first place lmao. but then i told him i'd pay what he's asking but he was still pissed about my first thing and he sold it to someone else

$800? he put a new wheelset on it or sth? anyway 350-400 seems alright, fuji makes nice frames and i wish i could work on them more. the only guy i knew with a fuji track bike got his jacked about 2 months after he bought it so i never got a chance to get it in the stand

iirc a really nice chain, installed the brake, wheels, and something else. also some shitty decals lmao, and a brooks saddle i think

$425 is way too much for a mystery frame. if you have a lot of time it might be worth having a look at it but my guess is it's a hi-tensile steel frame that's spraypainted white, all the value is in the wheelset. can't tell what's going on with the crank either. dunno what the market is like in chicago but i'd hold out for sth better

#47
ok it was just the first one i saw and it looked interesting. ya ur rite... ill post some more links in a bit

lol this is actually a nice bike despite looking like a clowncar

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/2935214450.html

it looks like chicago is pretty expensive generally, theres a lot of old road bikes on here for like $200-300 that are worth $50-100

yeah i think that motobecane would be a bit small on you. the chicago ultimate fixie isnt really my style and im not sure why the guy thinks that no fixies have 27" wheels but $200 sounds about right for what it is. id probably change the bars and put some drops on tho

#58
hahahaha that thing looks ridiculous. for reference i've got a geared bike and i hate it becuz its heavy & i hate switching gears
#59
yeah geared bikes are significantly more work maitenance wise as well, theres a lot to be said for single speeds in flat cities. depending on what your current setup is you may be able to convert to single relatively straightforwardly if you like the frame, crank, etc
#60
DAMMIT I JUST REALLY WANT A FUJI FEATHER.

i spotted a fuji feather once at the western blue line stop and i was like seconds from calling my friend who has a truck and bike stealin gear to gank that thing then some dude came by and unlocked it, and we talked about it for a minute hahaha

naw the frame is soooo heavy and my friends' fixed frames, even the heaviest ones, are like dreams compared to the pos i got. theres a lot more things i hate about it too... only thing i like about it is that when i shift into that third gear i can really dust clowns on their fixeds lol. sometimes i'll be cruisin along and some dickhole will pass by me, 30 seconds later i fly past him!! HAHA WHO WINS NOW

Australia (and maybe NZ) is the only country in the world to make it compulsory to wear a helmet riding a bike, is that not the most idiotic shit you've ever heard.

is it a steel frame? if you can find an older jap road or touring bike, a lot of them use tange double butted steel and its light as fuck, the centurion frame i have is like that. keep an eye out for tange & columbus frames. a lot of fixed gears these days are unbutted 4130 cromoly and you can often find vintage frames that are lighter

if you find something that fits you and feels solid for under $300 i wouldn't worry too much about pulling the trigger on it if you're not strapped for cash. if you have a lot of friends with fixies it's a good bet one of them is a mechanic and can give you a hand building one up which could save you a few bucks

Oh whoops misread.

Yeah it makes sense if you’re talking about total metro areas and such. NYC itself is obviously hyper dense but all the suburban stuff in Long Island or northern New Jersey or Connecticut is interrupted by woodland and big estates and little old towns separated by farmland. Whereas LA is a solid non-stop block of medium suburban density stretching from Simi valley to way out past Riverside.

if its in really good shape its prob a couple hundred off retail so it could be a reasonable deal. khs frames are reynolds 520 which is basically decent taiwanese 4130 cromoly. i dont know anything about khs drivetrains but its probably alright. worth taking for a ride and seeing how it feels

alrite ill check it out. kool
