also lol:

Newsweek then contacted Hornbeck, who writes under a pseudonym. “Anyone who has seen the side-by-side comparisons can have no doubt that Žižek is a plagiarist,” he said. “I know nothing about his writing habits. Maybe he does this all the time. Or it may be that as a prominent Marxist he didn’t want it known that he reads American Renaissance. In any case, what he did is contemptible, and his publisher...should certainly have a word with him.”

definitely my favorite part of this whole thing is the readership of american renaissance posting comments taking umbrage with the fact that its portrayed as a white supremacist magazine when in fact, if you actually read it, it's simply making the claim that demographic shifts are bad for nations and so this is bad for Whites. not racist.

With regard to the recent accusations about my plagiarism, here is what happened. When I was writing the text on Derrida which contains the problematic passages, a friend told me about Kevin Macdonald’s theories, and I asked him to send me a brief resume. The friend send it to me, assuring me that I can use it freely since it merely resumes another’s line of thought. Consequently, I did just that – and I sincerely apologize for not knowing that my friend’s resume was largely borrowed from Stanley Hornbeck’s review of Macdonald’s book. (These passages are also taken over in Part III, Chapter 1, of my book The Parallax View.) As any reader can quickly establish, the problematic passages are purely informative, a report on another’s theory for which I have no affinity whatsoever;

somewhere, some places, ideas are beginnining to get noticed. These kind of writings, one has to go out of ones way to find. SOMEBODY is finding them. The Left has spent the last 50 years running aound Culture, trying to stomp out ideas like Traditionalism, Racialism, Nationalism, like a homeowner trying to stomp roaches. They have crushed many lives, and careers, set out cans of Political Correctness, to fill the air with choking poisinous “smelly little Orthodoxies”,
called in exterminaters like the SPLC, and still the ideas wont leave, or die. I suspect that a great many more people, even the supposed more “Liberal” Millenials are tired of being told what is “in Error”. I don’t go by people say, I notice what they do. People talk about Diversity, but actually spend all thier time refuting it. Even on the “Left” They move to white neiborhoods, tend to go to white public gatherings, spend a great deal of effort and expense to pay for schools mostly white for thier kids. Even in Politicaly Correct enviroments like Academia, go to the cafeteria, or other places where people gather, and look at who sits with who. Although their is lots of talk in this country about white people that marry, or have kids with other racial groups, in fact 90 percent end up living with or marrying other whites. the point of all this, is that you cannot undo human nature. People will revert to the norm eventually. Even old communists like Zizeck.

I would like to recommend "A Sociology of Food and Nutrition: The Social Appetite." It reads like a textbook but afaik it has a single author and all of what he or she writes in the book is either original research or meta-analysis.

I linked to this book in another thread and what I most like about it is that it outlines how much control the food industry has on government issued health regulators by having them grossly exaggerate the role of exercise in maintaining one's health while practically ignoring the far more important idea of simply eating less. the logic goes: "the more people eat, the more money we make, so make them eat more."

it's actually really interesting and an easy read because of it's textbook like organization: http://www.amazon.com/Sociology-Food-Nutrition-Social-Appetite/dp/0195551508
