I subscribed to nsfwcorp and i kind of regret it since dolan has revealed himself to be a total tool and half the staff (the lady who writes transposed wikipedia articles, james kotecki) are unreadable but whatever, its something to read and it reminds me of 2006, so far away now, when I was 12 and the exile was fucking cool

remember when the jacobins were like hey now france's religion is like a church of reason or whatever instead of christianity. jacobins weren't badass they were just proto-goons. they probably wore leather dusters.

toussaint actually started fighting for the Republic when the Jacobins were in power? the jacobins voted to end all slavery in the French colonies? robespierre believed in and supported universal male suffrage (including blacks)? the haitian rebels were given representation in the national convention under the Jacobins?

i could see joining a monastery.

the problem is more that there's a distinction between not having sex and not being allowed to have sex. like i could probably go without chocolate for the whole rest of my life. but if you told me i couldn't have chocolate i'd probably be weeping and covered in sticky wrappers by the end of the day. almost exactly the same thing with sex.

The internet is ruining discourse and everyone from across the political spectrum is to blame.

There’s too much information, too many opinions, too many schisms and too much vanity. Is it to early to declare this whole thing a failure? Y’know the idea that there was some sort of liberatory potential in access to information and the ability to air ones views?

he was like oh he had a change of heart because he hates pam geller and robert spencer. but you see the reason he split with them is because he's a fortuynist ahahahahahahahahaha he never recanted his islamophobic and anti-palestinian writing, you can still get most of it on his website (which does not offer proper search functionality before 2008 btw)

one of the reasons iwc is right is because thanks in no small part to the internet, "Mr xyz said a thing which i disagree with and is therefore reprehensible" actually becomes major news articles. like this is my problem with things like the shame project, it becomes a shit list of "things that Malcolm Gladwell said" to the detriment of analysis of the material conditions as to why he said them and why it matters. at the end of the day it doesn't really MATTER that one journalist in the US happens to be an islamophobe of some stripe, what matters is islamophobia as a phenomenon and a force, and strategies of resistance and change or something
