explain.

well I did some work with a union when I was like 19, going door to door and doing some crazy stuff that was basically responsible for radicalizing me. and I left the country for almost three years and I came back and went to the totally wrong place to get into things. now I'm looking at all the great work that is happening around labor organizing (like the strikes in chicago, ny), also the best activists here I've met have been organizers/researchers. I think it's important for my education to do this, also I should approach it again with my updated education of the last decade lol

We'll see you in a year when you pull a prynkl post a thread like "first world union labor aristocracy is corrupt beyond saving and im filled with despair" haha......oh

i dont think ""prynkl"" is full of despair, or regrets it even, ""Failure is a mOTHBER OF SUCCESS. WIN" -mao FUCKIN zedong.

If a man wants to succeed in his work, that is, to achieve the anticipated results, he must bring his ideas into correspondence with the laws of the objective external world; if they do not correspond, he will fail in his practice. After he fails, he draws his lessons, corrects his ideas to make them correspond to the laws of the external world, and can thus turn failure into success; this is what is meant by "failure is the mother of success" and "a fall into the pit, a gain in your wit".

HMNY = historical materialism conference in new york

word on the street is vivek chibber was head of (or heavily influential in) picking incoming phd students for NYU's sociology department a couple years back and picked a grip of marxists and they're known as the 'central committee' by the rest of the dept. which owns i guess

the herstory of all herterto exicisting cisities is the herstory of ass snuggles.

What is historical materialism, sounds like new age nonsense

Is there a conference where communists acknowledge their frequent appeals to morality despite their complete lack of moral texts and discussions.

The best, most engaging (and interesting) speakers were those with organizing & political backgrounds (except vivek, I don't know his background). Silvia federici and stanley aronowitz were like in a different league, and while the others had interesting theoretical contributions, its amazing to grasp just the sort of disconnect the failures of radical organizing have developed in this country.

There were at least two talks about 'alternative lenin lineages' that were titled like In Defense of Zinovievism or some shit. And its like really? This is in a country which (as aronowitz points out) no longer even has marxist theories on modern agriculture. Contrast that with the CPUSA workon land theory in the 30s, or god knows how much theoretical work in the USSR, china, african socialist experiments, etc and you have a clear view of the sort of dilettantism pitfalls that plague the modern western left.

did anyone discuss the swp's failsplosion lol
#69
to be fair the swp has come out of it in a really odd way now

its basically survived - an eclectic mix of intellectuals, students, celebrity leftists and the odd broken down ex full time comrade

but at the same time what has survived is the most embarrassing construct ever seen at the leadership of even the trot first world left

marxism this year is gonna be confusing as fuck as we wait for probs the worst ever formed split to just slowly sink taking entire slices of the left with it

i cant imagine anyone could write good lark about it unless they got that context it would just be a daft collection of theory points missing the mechanics of why

there need to be female only / POC only spaces within leftist orgs imo

i agree with the female only spaces, but i think POC (i'm not sure how to even begin defining that outside of america) are ultimately better served by having their own organizations in their own communities. not that women shouldn't have their own organizations as well, but the distributed nature of female communities can make it difficult and obviously women should have a stake in their general community organizations.
