was in a debate today about nonsense shows like nikita and all that other yank rubbish where people race around stealing babies and gunning people down while pretending to be superhero secret agents. if any of that nonsense happened in reality, everyone would be in custody within the month and the rest of the show would consist of the characters staring at four grey walls.
that's why ancient history and people are superior. because gentlemen really could roll around being superhero secret agents and not get done over for it.

i never read the books because i agree. it is nonetheless a good show. i think it would be better if there was no magic tho.

yes he's a nice enough man, but I don't think he quite fits in well with his grandson the psychopath moron child king; tywin by all rights should have some sort of explicit power over the idiot monarch, but it's not clear enough. The two of them exist separately almost.

it's Stuff-White-People-Like trash for the blog-watercooler , nerd escapism for the 'history buff' whose number one priority is to not actually learn anything about history. Wish fulfillment for dirty white people who long for a world where their filthy pallor is the norm. I have never seen a piece of art with GoT's momentum and money behind it put so much effort into refusing to elevate it's themes into even 'mild interest'.
