Just admit that the market serves class interests, and rightly so, because this cradle earth was never built to cage six billion babies, and resource consolidation in the hands of the few is the only way capital-h Humanity can survive the century, and even if capitalism caused this very problem through its past history, that's immaterial now - it's the only force that can save us from itself
#42
Or haow about the effort required to destroy capitalism outweighs the reward for getting rid of it

the markets serve class interests and that's a good thing because the lower classes are so disorganized they can't even fuck off without direction and would probably still do a bad job

well i actually dont believe those posts i made, in fact I believe the only thing that can save us from capitalism is yes, destroying it, probably a lot of deaths, probably mine, but you can just say the "problem" of global collapse is insoluble, this focus on us being "saved" is idle fantasy, and what people really mean by that is "can we destroy capitalism while preserving our way of life?" of course not. the only way we can be "saved" if that's what we want is to ensure that some humans will last beyond global collapse, and capitalism does provide a select few people with a lifeboat.

lol if you think the market is essential to development rather than in service to class interests just take a gander at what happened to the former soviet union w/r/t privatization

participation in international markets was essential to the development of the socialist states so...

how so

americans invested a lot in soviet development programs and the soviets depended on trade with germans and americans and such to get off the ground.

http://reformed-theology.org/html/books/bolshevik_revolution/index.html

this is a silly book but it has a lot of good information in it, also the same author wrote three volumes looking at the employment of western technology in soviet economic development

EDIT: not only that but you have to consider what the soviets did once they achieved superpower status, their colonial policies in the satellite states and so on. you can define that as non-market activity i guess but that's sort of the same pedantic game that's going on in the ussr thread, which is probably where this discussion should go

by not exactly anti-capitalist you mean he endorses capitalism and says that socialism was a clusterfuck, as, of course, all prominent economists believe.
