when mexicans immigrate to america and become citizens it's "transnationalism", an expression of liberal individualist identity politics. Mods?
#442
when u say transnationalism I think of a dude dressed up in Lisa Simpsons 'Floreda' costume and all effeminately belligerent about it

hey is it just me or is the near universal adoption of "feminine" pseudonyms by MTF transsexuals the single greatest reinforcement of established gender roles and subconscious abdication to the patriarchal power structure that could ever possibly exist
#450
ah yes, my name now ends in a vowel, today i am truly a woman
#451
what do you conclude from this insight superabound
#452
is there really anything wrong with gendered names in and of themselves? i'm not seein it

it seems like a lot of transgenders adopt ridiculously stereotypically "feminine" things (like knee-high toe socks and frilly panties and gothic lolita dresses) that it really comes across like they aren't trying to pass at all. not that there's anything wrong with that

(edit: i guess it's possible maybe they are living out their female pubescence they never had. 12 year old girls dress really badly too; perhaps a few years post-transition they will be clothed much smarter)

that if i ever get a sex change i will keep my original name and thus bravely stand out from the pack

#456
actually i just realized that wont work, my name could easily be a girls name. ill have to adopt a much more masculine name. whats the most male-sounding name there is? Dick? Rod? Mr. President?
#457
i was going to say we should all adopt androgynous names as an act supreme equality, but then i realized numbers would work even better, but then i also realized that people would probably just immediately start considering all odd numbers to be male and all even numbers female. i guess we'll just have to non-identifiably mutilate all our genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics instead

i dont think most of them do this, just the mentally ill ones who find safe space itnernet forums or whatever to post their diaper pics

#460
yeah, i was going to qualify that by saying on the internet, especially since that is the only place i've ever encountered anything trans*

forums and miniblogs may not be the best place to make such observations
#461
there are a lot of trans people in my city who are just, like. weird-looking. and neither recognizably man or woman. not androgynous just not much like our usual expectations of gender. they have a lot of body mods and wear crusty clothes. and that's kinda cool i think
#462
where is this genderbender city
#463
san francisco, mate.
#464
yeah when you hear people complain about the unemployment rate just mentally factor in all the layabouts who have body mods or look terrible generally. oh hi my name is devastator and i'd like a job at your bank. what's that no sorry i can't remove my horn implants. why won't obama give me job.

I think it's probably more that they are obviously dudes and are super compensating so they can believe a lie. Just my opinion though, and I could be wrong.

i think a lot of MTF drives and thinks like transvestism are born directly out of a desire to feel "sexy" and the rush of pleasurepower that necessarily comes from feelings of sexiness. and im not talking about that bullshit male sexiness that women patronizingly pretend exists, which is nothing more than a handful of visual or olfactory characteristics that imply the man is capable of performing some utilitarian physical task for you, like reeking of sweat and engine grease or having arms large enough to carry a loaded dresser up a flight of stairs. im talking real, 'make u wanna fuk' sexiness, that kind of sexiness that is so clearly useless for anything other than hardcore fucking that there can be no mistake about its purpose or purity
#474
The ones that dress like old ladies are worse
#475
Also I'm pretty sure a lot of transwomen find themselves in a position where catering to tranny chasers is one of the only ways they can find any affection and in a lot of cases employment.

i guess it doesnt help that the only source of interaction most of the people likely to be discussing the topic have with them is through niche internet pornography. thats probably something both trans and non-trans women have in common

what effect has the phenomenon known as "Big Ang" had on the trans community?

personally i see her as proof that a biologically male origin in no way places a ceiling upon or inhibits the ability of an individual to either achieve or surpass the innate "femininity" of a biological female. thanks Big Ang, youre a real hero
#478
Being openly trans is like even less likely to get someone employed than being a woman born physically a woman, and it's already evident that unemployed women find themselves turning to porn and prostitution.

so therefore male privilege is only a function of, and in effect only as long as, a man's willingness or ability to personally perpetuate the pre-established patriarchal power structure and normative gender roles....hmmm. hm
